The Kingmaker's Daughter by Philippa Gregory

The Kingmaker's Daughter is definitely a book that should be on your 'to-read' list if you like chick lit or if you're a Philippa Gregory fan.

Right away I noticed how easy it was to read the story.  Part of it, of course, has to do with the point of view: the story is told from a perspective of a girl who is just 8 when the novel begins.  Since The Kingmaker's Daughter is historical fiction, I was expecting a little too much description for my liking -- but I was pleasantly surprised!  There was just enough description to paint a clear picture, but it was sporadic, sprinkled throughout the story so as not to overwhelm the reader all at once.

Content-wise... well, it's drama of royal proportions.  If you enjoy chick lit, you will definitely like The Kingmaker's Daughter.  If you are a Philippa Gregory fan, you are in for a treat.  She did not disappoint with this new release.

On a totally random and unrelated note, I love that they used to name their fortresses, palaces, castles, etc.  That is just so foreign and brilliant!  Makes me want to name my cute little apartment :)
